Enjoying the Military Salute Discount Program for Military Members

Many benefits come with military service but one of the most beneficial is all the discounts – including great Disney discounts for military families. Thankfully, Disney offers a Disney Military Salute Ticket plan.  The happiest place in the world can be even happier with discount prices!

This post will explain some of the best Disney discounts or perks associated with serving one’s country.  This discount program is available at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.

There are several multi-day ticket deals for military families. Choose between a 4-day, 5-day, or 6-day Military Salute Ticket with the Park Hopper or Park Hopper plus tickets.  The Park Hopper allows you to visit more than one theme park on the same day.  The Park Hopper Plus also allows you to visit more than one theme park on the same day but also adds a certain number of visits to a water park, golf course, or mini-golf course based on the length of your stay. For 2024, these tickets range in price between $369 for the Park Hopper Option up to $439 for the 6-Day Park Hopper Plus Option.  To check out all the ticket options, click here. Please note, that these passes must be purchased at your military sales outlet (Information, Tickets, and Travel – ITT - office at your military installation).  There are some block-out dates the Military Salute passes don’t apply, be sure to check out details on the Disney discounts website. You can also purchase the tickets at the Shades of Green resort (see below for details on the resort).

When purchasing tickets, be sure to bring valid military identification. No more than 6 Disney Military Sault Tickets may be purchased by any eligible service member or spouse. These discounts are available to all active or retired members of the US military and include National Guard and Reserve members.

Shades of Green Resort for Military Families

One of the best kept secrets about Disneyworld is the Armed Forces Recreation Center (a Morale Welfare and Recreation – MWR - benefit) that is located in Orlando and right near Disneyworld.  This hotel is a much more reasonable rate than a regular Disney Park hotels and is right across from the Disney Polynesian Resort and has monorail access.

In addition to the monorail access at the Polynesian, there is also free bus service from the Shades of Green. Plus the Shades of Green hotel has huge rooms, especially for the Disney area. 

Another benefit is that Shades of Green offers a military Shoppette store with reasonable prices for food items and includes a nice pool with a kids' slide and a kid play area.  It’s a win-win.  The resort also includes a spa and a fitness center. However, since this resort is such an amazing deal, the rooms are booked far in advance.  To access room rates and reservations, click here. Shades of Green also offers three full-style restaurants, a café, and a coffee shop.

Disney Hotels Discounts for Military Families

The Disney Military Salute program also provides discounts to Disney Resort hotels. There are certain villas and rooms excluded from this program.  There are deals at both the Florida and the California resorts.  For details and rates, see Disney’s Resorts’ link for the Military Salute Program. When you stay at a Disney resort hotel, you can get 30 minutes early entry to any theme park on each day of your stay.  When you stay at Disney Deluxe Resort or Deluxe Villa Resort, guests can enjoy extended evening hours on select nights in certain theme parks.

Disney Cruises Discounts for Military Families

The discounts offered through the Military Salute program extend to some cruises and sailing dates.  The staterooms are limited to one per military member, per voyage.  See the website for details.
